New flagship by Azimut: coming in 2020!

The Italian shipyard Azimut Yachts announced the launch of a larger model in the Azimut Grande lineup. The new flagship, the three-deck Azimut Grande Trideck, is currently under construction: the hull will be relocated to a facility in Avigliana near Turin in the coming days.

At 37.6 metres overall with a 7.98-metre beam and rated at just under 300GT, the Azimut Grande Trideck will be much larger than the current flagship of the line - Azimut Grande 35 Metri. The world premiere of the yacht will take place in 2020, but Azimut Yachts has already signed contracts for three hulls, the fourth one is under negotiation with the future customer.

“Ensuring that we stayed below 300GT meant that the Azimut Grande Trideck has been quite a complex project in terms of the design and engineering package,” says chief technical officer, Alessandro Rossi. “I think the market will be very surprised by the available space and volume on board this boat.”

The author of the exterior design is Alberto Mancini. The new Azimut Grande Trideck features the split-level exterior deck arrangement as seen on the new Azimut S10, just revealed at the Cannes Yachting Festival 2019, with a raised level ‘terrace’ on the main deck aft. As throughout the other S and Azimut Grande models, carbon fibre will be used extensively for the Trideck superstructure to reduce weight. 

“Larger models like the Azimut Grande Trideck are aspirational products for our owners,” says Marco Valle, Azimut Managing Director. “They not only increase the range, but help grow the business by pushing sales of the smaller models in a kind of chain reaction. In fact, our turnover is increasing year on year and we’ve delivered more than 250 units across the various ranges so far this year.”

The interior design is by Achille Salvagni, who offered the layout of four or five cabins to accommodate up to 10 guests, with the opportunity of internal areas customization depending on the future owners' wishes.


Powered by standard 2400-hp MTU 16V20000M96 engines, the brand new Azimut Grande Trideck will have a top speed of 23 knots and a cruising speed of 19 knots. In economical mode with a speed of 12 knots the yacht is expected to travel 1,700 nautical miles without refuelling.
