Capri and Ischia
The pearls of the Gulf of Naples are the islands of Capri and Ischia. In Capri, superyachts stop at Marina Grande: it is very popular during the season, so you need to book a place in advance.Another option is to stay south-facing at Marina Piccolo, which has the beach, good restaurants and the famous Faraglioni Rocks not far away. The cozy, well-defended port of the island of Ischia has an almost perfectly rounded outline, which is not surprising - it is located on the site of an ancient volcanic crater.Nearby is the thermal resort of Casamicciola Terme with hot springs and pine forests, as well as the famous Aragonese castle, first mentioned in historical chronicles as far back as the 5th century BC.
Amalfi
Further south lies the Amalfi Coast. In addition to Amalfi itself with a beautiful cathedral of the 10th century, the famous “Paradise Courtyard” and many excellent restaurants, you should definitely look into the picturesque town of Positano, where pink and terracotta houses literally hang on the coastal cliffs, and you can find a lot of interesting things in the steep narrow streets. If you have time, you can walk along the Path of the Gods, which connects Positano with other coastal towns.
Sicily
Even further south is Sicily: the largest island in the Mediterranean, which is worth a separate yacht trip. Syracuse with the cave "Ear of Dionysius", Agrigento with ancient temples, the most beautiful Taormina, colorful Palermo and, of course, Etna - an active volcano rising 3300 m above sea level. However, if you want to enjoy the sight of the eruption in a more private setting, head to the Aeolian (Lipari) Islands off the northern coast of Sicily. The small island-volcano of Stromboli, where Roberto Rossellini filmed his films, will please you during the day with a small cozy town and a beach with blue-black sand, and in the evening with a fiery glow of the crater visible from afar, from which stones periodically fly out and even lava flows out.The last strong eruption of Stromboli happened in 2019, and if the volcano is calm, then excursions are organized to its top. Of the other islands of the archipelago - Lipari, Salina, Vulcano, Panarea - each is interesting in its own way, but they are united by beautiful nature, excellent local cuisine and silence: these islands are not yet crowded with tourists.
