This year marks the 18th edition of the prestigious World Yachts Trophies awarding ceremony at the Cannes Yachting Festival. In 2019 the Italian Azimut-Benetti Group was awarded a record number of prizes for their new yachts and other achievements.
Azimut Atlantis 45 won the Best Interior design award in the category of yachts between 45 and 64 feet (13.70 - 19.50 meters), impressing the jury with the welcoming and sophisticated atmosphere on board created by Azimut Yachts together with Neo Design. Being quite compact, the yacht features two spacious cabins capable of transforming, each with private bathroom. Moreover, a functional layout of the main deck allows to make the most of the space.
Azimut 78 Fly, the new flagship of the Azimut Flybridge Collection, received the Best Layout award in the category of boats between 64 and 80 feet (19.50 - 24 meters). This ultra-innovative and hyper-technological boat impresses with a perfect balance between its dynamic exterior lines and spacious internal areas. Alberto Mancini became the author of the exterior lines, while Achille Salvagni was in charge of extremely beautiful interiors.
Recognised as one of the most interesting yachts at the Cannes boat show 2019, the Azimut S8 won the Best Evolution Product award. This brand new yacht came as surprise at the ceremony, as its attendance at the Cannes Yachting Festival was announced shortly before the event. Sporty styling, the widespread use of carbon and triple propulsion Volvo Penta IPS, ensuring perfect maneuverability and high speed, takes the Azimut S8 to the top level of the technological innovation in its category.
The Azimut S8’s elder brother, a brand new Azimut S10, won the Best Exterior Award in the category of boats between 80 and 98 feet (24 and 30 metres). This latest masterpiece by Alberto Mancini combines the elegance of the megasailers, the architecture of a modern villa overlooking the sea and the sporty character of the automotive design.
The 63-meter Custom yacht Metis by Benetti shipyard received the Best exterior design in the category of larger yachts between 164 and 270 feet (50 and 82 meters). The prize fell into the hands of designer Giorgio M. Cassetta, who conceived the dynamic proportions of a yacht and a long bow with vertical straight. The author defines the yacht’s design as minimalistic, modern and timeless with fluid lines, large volumes and extraordinary solutions, such as the private deck for the owner. The Metis’ interior design is the result of partnership between British studio Bannenberg & Rowell and German firm Birgit Otte Interior.
The project’s FB277 107-meter yacht won the ultimate award Yacht of the Year in the category of boats over 270 feet (82 meters). Its steel-made hull and aluminium-made superstructure are supplemented by an electric diesel propulsion system, while the interiors and exteriors are designed entirely by Benetti without the engagement of third designers. The key features on board include a large swimming pool on the sun deck, a grand piano, a heliport deck, a spa with hammam, and a massage room with a gym.
Finally, the Outstanding Career award went to the founder and head of Azimut/Benetti Paolo Vitelli, who in 50 years made of his company a true global Yachting Empire. Paolo Vitelli commented: “In this long year of celebrations, we continue to receive awards and acknowledgements from a world that I have always loved and to which I have dedicated the past few decades. The Cannes Yachting Festival in particular has offered us some truly unique moments, with the announcement of our brilliant results last year, the celebration of our 50th anniversary with our international customers at a magical evening event, and our gratification at the great interest and appreciation shown for our latest models, testifying to how the yachts built by our two brands, Azimut and Benetti, excel in all categories, from 12 up to 100 meters. I could not have imagined a better conclusion for this boat show.”
